Back to the Future

Having looked into some of the works of the software engineering masters of old viz Gerald Weinberg, Robert Glass, Tom DeMarco, Harlam Mills, David Parnas, Edsger Dijkstra, Fred Brooks, etc., I have no doubt that many of the questions that we are still trying to answer with relation to the development of software have already been answered by the afore mentioned gurus. In a way, it has been disheartening to learn that we feel that we need to arrive at all these answers on our own, mostly by bumbling around and failing rather than take the time to peruse the works of these masters. "Better late than never" for me personally, so am slowly working my way through the books by these giants in the software engineering field. Hopefully, I can imbibe some of the thoughts and conclusions of these masters and be a better software engineer.
